Beedrill · Vivid Voltage, what to know.
About the Beedrill card
Beedrill sits at #3 in Vivid Voltage, released in November 2020. Vivid Voltage is part of the modern English Pokémon TCG era and uses the standard contemporary card frame and rarity tiers. Illustration by KEIICHIRO ITO. In the games, Beedrill evolves from Kakuna, which makes it a late-stage card in the line.
The flavor text on the card reads: "May appear in a swarm. Flies at violent speeds, all the while stabbing with the toxic stinger on its rear." Pokédex entries from this era are short and often quirky, written by the original Japanese localization team for a specific stat-block layout that no longer exists in modern cards.
About Beedrill in the Pokémon world
The Bug-Poison final form of the Weedle line. Three drill-tipped stingers and a wasp silhouette. Notoriously strong in early tournament play before defensive Pokémon caught up. Base Set Beedrill is a rare non-holo. Jungle reprinted it. Both have steady collector demand, with the Base Set print being meaningfully scarcer in high grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Vivid Voltage shipped in Holofoil, Reverse Holo, Full Art (V and VMAX), and Rainbow Rare. The Rainbow Pikachu VMAX (#188) is the defining Rainbow Rare pull from the set and one of the most iconic modern Pokémon cards.
Grading and condition
For graded buyers, modern Rares grade easily but the secondary market for graded modern non-holo Rares is thin. The math rarely justifies submission unless the card is a tournament staple or the Pokémon has independent collector traction.
If you are buying this card
For raw purchases of this card, verify centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface scratches under angled light. Modern Rares are inexpensive in raw and graded condition; submission math rarely works unless the card has independent collector demand.
