Dragonite · Fossil, what to know.
Dragonite is card 4 of 62 in Fossil, released in October 1999, illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. The set's other heavy holos. Aerodactyl, Articuno, Zapdos, Lapras. All have their constituencies, but Dragonite consistently leads Fossil headlines because of how few high-grade examples exist.
Fossil ran in 1st Edition and Unlimited. There is no Shadowless equivalent. PSA 10 1st Edition Dragonite is genuinely scarce. The printing on Fossil holos was inconsistent enough that centering and surface defects punish the top grade. Population reports back this up: PSA 10 1st Edition Dragonite pop is significantly lower than Base Set Blastoise or Venusaur despite the comparable age and demand.
For collectors building a Wizards-era holo rainbow, Dragonite is the most expensive Fossil slot to fill in PSA 10. Unlimited copies are far more accessible and still deliver the iconic Arita artwork.
