About the Houndstone card
Houndstone sits at #106 in Scarlet & Violet, released in March 2023. Scarlet & Violet is part of the modern English Pokémon TCG era and uses the standard contemporary card frame and rarity tiers. The flavor text on the card reads: "A lovingly mourned Pokémon was reborn as Houndstone. It doesn't like anyone touching the protuberance atop its head." Print variants and how to spot them
Scarlet & Violet base shipped in Holofoil, Reverse Holo, ex, Full Art, Special Illustration, and Hyper Rare. The Special Illustration Rare tier uses alternate artwork distinct from the standard ex card and is pulled at low rates. The set introduced the ex mechanic that replaced V and VSTAR.
Grading and condition
For graded buyers, modern Rares grade easily but the secondary market for graded modern non-holo Rares is thin. The math rarely justifies submission unless the card is a tournament staple or the Pokémon has independent collector traction.
