Gloom · Crown Zenith, what to know.
About the Gloom card
Gloom sits at #2 in Crown Zenith, released in January 2023. Crown Zenith is part of the modern English Pokémon TCG era and uses the standard contemporary card frame and rarity tiers. Illustration by Kyoko Umemoto. In the games, Gloom evolves from Oddish, which makes it a late-stage card in the line.
The flavor text on the card reads: "Its pistils exude an incredibly foul odor. The horrid stench can cause fainting at a distance of 1.25 miles." Pokédex entries from this era are short and often quirky, written by the original Japanese localization team for a specific stat-block layout that no longer exists in modern cards.
About Gloom in the Pokémon world
The middle Oddish stage. Splits into Vileplume or Bellossom depending on evolution method. Middle-stage card with thin demand.
Print variants and how to spot them
Crown Zenith shipped in Holofoil, Reverse Holo, V, VSTAR, and the Galarian Gallery alternate-art subset. The set was sold only in Elite Trainer Box and tin product, never in standard booster packs, which gives sealed Crown Zenith product a different supply-and-demand profile from the rest of the SWSH era.
Grading and condition
Modern Uncommons grade cleanly. The secondary market for graded modern Uncommons is mostly set-completionist driven; standalone demand is thin. Useful as a first grading submission to learn the process.
If you are buying this card
Raw copies of this card are inexpensive enough that the grading math rarely justifies submission unless you have a clearly pack-fresh example. For set completionists, picking up a clean raw copy and sleeving it is the practical move.
