Mew

Mew sits at #32 in Hidden Fates, released in August 2019. Hidden Fates is part of the modern English Pokémon TCG era and uses the standard contemporary card frame and rarity tiers. Illustration by Atsuko Nishida.

The flavor text on the card reads: "Because it can use all kinds of moves, many scientists believe Mew to be the ancestor of Pokémon." Pokédex entries from this era are short and often quirky, written by the original Japanese localization team for a specific stat-block layout that no longer exists in modern cards.

The original Mythical Pokémon. Famous for the "Mew under the truck" rumor in 1998. Only legitimately obtainable through Nintendo events at launch. No Mew in Wizards-era sets until the famous Southern Islands promo. Its rarity in pre-Internet Pokémon collecting drives lasting cult interest.

Hidden Fates shipped in Holofoil and Reverse Holo, plus a special Shiny Vault subset (numbered SV1 through SV94) that runs alongside the standard 69-card set. Shiny Vault cards use alternate-color shiny treatments and pull at lower rates than the standard holos.

For graded buyers, modern Rares grade easily but the secondary market for graded modern non-holo Rares is thin. The math rarely justifies submission unless the card is a tournament staple or the Pokémon has independent collector traction.

For raw purchases of this card, verify centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface scratches under angled light. Modern Rares are inexpensive in raw and graded condition; submission math rarely works unless the card has independent collector demand.
