A special expansion built around shiny Pokémon variants in a dedicated Shiny Vault subset. Charizard-GX from Hidden Fates is one of the most-pulled modern chase cards and remains an icon of the Sun & Moon era.
Hidden Fates released August 23, 2019 as a special Sun & Moon expansion. The defining feature was the Shiny Vault subset: a parallel collection of alternate-art shiny Pokémon that ran from SV1 through SV94 alongside the standard 69-card set.
The headline card is Charizard-GX. Two versions exist: the standard Holofoil and the Shiny Vault SV49 alternate art. Both became defining modern chases.
Hidden Fates shipped in standard Holofoil and Reverse Holo prints. The Shiny Vault cards are a separate numbered subset (SV1-SV94) pulled at lower rates than standard holos.
Sealed Hidden Fates product was famously hard to keep in stock at launch and remained scarce in retail for years afterward. The set never received a full reprint at the original scale, which kept sealed prices elevated.
Charizard-GX (#9) and Shiny Vault Charizard (SV49) are the marquee chases. Reshiram & Charizard-GX Tag Team is also heavily collected. Hidden Fates sealed Elite Trainer Boxes have appreciated dramatically since 2019.
